As case numbers continue to decline, and vaccination numbers increase, we are excited about the opportunity to gather together in-person once again to share in worship and praise. As current and future restrictions into the summer favour outdoor over indoor events, we will be having outdoor services this summer, starting next week! We also have plans for congregational annual meetings in July. Please check out the details below:
WORSHIP PLANS:
Sunday, June 27th at 10:30 a.m. – Joint service at the Blyth Lion’s Park. This service will include the United Churches of Blyth, Brussels, Londesborough, and Knox (Auburn). Bring a lawn chair and water/sunscreen/outdoor needs. Mask-wearing is required where physical distancing is not possible, and contact tracing will be enforced. There will be an offering taken up for Camp Menesetung. There will not be a social time before or after the service.
Sundays in July – Brussels at 9:30 a.m. (Conservation Area), Blyth at 11 a.m. (Blyth UC Parking Lot). Bring a lawn chair and water/sunscreen/outdoor needs. Mask-wearing is required where physical distancing is not possible, and contact tracing will be enforced.
Sunday, August 1st at 10:30 a.m. – Joint service at the Brussels Conservation Area). This will be a Celebration of Music service. Please follow outdoor guidelines for that time, and bring a lawn chair and water/sunscreen/outdoor needs. More details to come.
Remainder or August – No Worship Services. Alex is off the first couple weeks of August, and the remainder of the month will be spent preparing for (hopefully) fall re-entering of the sanctuaries. You are encouraged to attend worship with other nearby congregations, and be the Church in community!
September – Potential In-Sanctuary Worship. Depending on restrictions and numbers, we are hoping to have services in our buildings starting in September. This is subject to change.
September 19th – Joint Service at Camp Menesetung (Goderich). More details to come.
CONGREGATIONAL MEETINGS:
Assuming that the province will be in Stage Two by early July, which allows outdoor gatherings of up to 25 people, we are planning on having our annual meetings outdoors.
Tuesday July 6th at 6:30 p.m. – Brussels annual meeting on the manse lawn. Bring a lawn chair.
Wednesday July 7th at 6:30 p.m. – Blyth annual meeting at the church parking lot. Bring a lawn chair.
Thrusday June 8th at 6:30 p.m. – Rain Date for either congregation.
JOINT OUTREACH:
In response to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, and the vocal outcry over remains at various residential schools, our congregations’ joint mission for this summer is The Healing Fund, the United Church’s fund to help with healing initiatives for those impacted by the residential school system. Monetary donations to the fund can be sent to the treasurer of either church.
