“After this I looked, and there was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, robed in white, with palm branches in their hands.” (Revelation 7:9)
Hello, all! The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.
This week marks yet another holiday that has been impacted by the pandemic: Halloween. I was very excited for my first Halloween living in the community. Growing up, Halloween meant driving from farm to farm getting treats, which wasn’t the most effective means of getting the biggest haul. And in the city, we didn’t have many kids in the apartment building. But this would be the first Halloween where I could enjoy the creativity on display by our town’s youth. However, this is just one more time when the crowds cannot gather, which is disheartening in a way, even though we know that the lack of crowds means that we are a caring community.
But we can take heart in the crowd that never wavers, the crowd of saints and loved ones that we honour on All Saints and All Souls Days. In this company, we are assured of a love and inspiration that keeps us during these difficult times. It is a call to encourage one another to uphold each other in spiritual slumps, and be joyous when we have reason to celebrate. And the saints in our midst are still doing wonderful things in our congregations:
- October 31st – Online Youth Hangout: At 10 a.m., families in our communities are invited to join with Alex in an online hangout session, where we will go through the lessons and activities found in our youth packages. Yours in Christ,
Alex Jebson
